Talk about Orientalism

1. Edward Said ' s interview was taken by Sut Jhally about Orientalism. This is very important work of Said about postcolonialism. I have found this 5 important points in the interview.

1 )Orientalism presents our thinking of east. The way to look towards east it is an attitude. Everything is not Orientalism because it was the parameter to look towards west. This is the perspective to look towards east people's life and their culture and their look also. Orientalism tries to get the idea of how do we come to know about that people who are different from other only by their skin color.

Orient helps to define yourself. Orient define Europe and Europe define orient.

2)Orient is material foundation. It's not only an imagination. Orient is part of orient material civilization of European culture and civilization. Philosophical order and discourse is aslo Orientalism.

Orientalism became an academic now.who is Orientalist now?
The person who done philosophy ,who teach , who done research on it etc. That's called orientalist and what he or she do on it that called  orientalism .

Methodology to use orientalism. It is a corporate institution for dealing with orient, dealing by making student of it etc.

3) The orient people create an image outside of history it is about something that is eternal. You can find some orient in India, in Egypt or in Syria all them are same. Western people use the  orient only for their use. They have not any kind of sympathy and respect for them.

4)Orientalism is not only representation of political power. One should have the power for knowledge but here orient not present the political power. Some of the other people use their power to ruler over orient . For example,Napoleon . He use his power and ruled over Egypt.

5)France  and British had good connection with orientalism. This both was direct with orientalism . America was indirect with orientalism . Rosefta stones change teh orient .  French  and British orientalism had some difference.

so at last Said,said that no one's history is better than others history. Some become victim of some ruled people. One ' s individual thought and experience became others. So we can find the western way to looking towards the east.
