Poem 'Design' by Robert Frost
The poem 'Design'
The poem Design written by Robert Frost. In this poem he describe the situation of one insect Moth. Moth became victim of white, fat spider. Spider seat on the flower, heal - all. After death of moth , its body was totally poisoned. It is looking like some ingredients of witches' broth. In the poem Frost compare the moth' s wings with paper kite.
In this poem we can see that Moth is hero and Spider is villain. Moth looks like sad and died and spider looks like happy.
Whiteness as a symbol
In the poem poet use white spider, white flower, and white cloth. So the symbol of whiteness is also significant.
At last in the poem poet speak about the design of darkness.
Rule of nature:
Here the poet present the rule of nature. Every animate has requirement of food. In animals world they depends on each other. One strong animal hunt other animal and use it for its food.
The food chain is continually depend on each other. For example:rat is hunted by cat,cat is hunted by dog,dog is hunted by lion...and its going on. So in this poem spider hunted the moth. With the reference of poem poet describe food chain of animal world.
Meaning of design:
In the world generally we can find two types of design.
1)Natural
2)Artificial
In natural design ,we can find all the element of nature . In this poem poet describe the design created by God.
In animal world food chain is necessary. Poet compare the moth with soup of witches.
So in above picture we can find the element of nature. Flower, insect all the thing are natural. This is the design of nature created by God.
In my painting I use both images, natural and artificial. Here the well is artificial but other things are natural.
