1)Talk on importance of single story:-
First she introduce herself . She started writing on age of 7. She was earlier writer. She told that her characters of story were not white, eating mango etc...
About African reading:-
When she discovered African book ,words are available,quite easy to find. After reading African book she find out girl like her,chocolate color skin. She write about that thing that she recognized from the book.
She also read American literature. American literature change her imagination and open new world for her. But she doesn't know that people like her couldn't existence literature.
African authenticity:-
She doesn't know about African authenticity. Her professor said that her novel was not authentically African. Number of thing of novel was wrong so it was failed. Her characters were uneducated and middle-class.
Talk about power:-
There is impossible to talk about single story without taking about power. It's Italic.
Stories to define the principles,how they are told?who tells them?when they are told?how many stories are told?all this things depend on power. Power is ability not just to know about another person but imagines the definitive story.
About stereotypes:-
The single story creates stereotypes. The problem with stereotypes is not that they are true but they are incomplete. They make one story became only story.
Consequence of single story:-
The consequences of single story is that it rope people's dignity. It makes recognization over equal humanity difficult. It emphasize now we are different rather than similar.
2)we should be feminist.
His friend called her feminist. She wrote a novel about man who among all the things who beats his wife. One journalist advised her then she called herself a happy feminist. One academic Nigerian lady called her that feminist was not her culture,it was an African culture.
School experience:-
In her school days she told that a boy who get second position in class he should be class monitor. Teacher aslo said that a boy should be monitor. She also got good marks and want to became monitor but she doesn't because she is a girl.
Man and woman are different:-
Obviously man and woman have different sexual organ,different social value , man are physically strong than woman . Most of the position of power occupied by man. In job man and woman have same position though their salary is not same. So in literal way man ruled on the world.
Experience of Nigerian hotel:-
One guard of hotel stopped her and ask unknowing questions while she walked in hotel. Because she was alone. After that incident she felt sad and want to tell the society that she is also a human being as a man. She has all rights for life which man has. When she gave tip to a servant he thanked her friend but not her because the servant thought that man can earned money,not woman.
If girl and boy has same age,same pocket money though in hotel boy want to pay money and he denied her to pay money and he show his muscularity.
Marriage is necessary for women:-
Society think that a marriage is good think for women . She getting happiness and joy from marriage. But if one unmarried women we find around us then we start to talk about her. If a men in certain age and not marry then we think that this is common.
Different view for both:-
Obviously woman should show respect for man but a man should not because he is man . Woman compromised her joy and happiness but man can not. If our son has girlfriend that is not problematic but if our daughter has boyfriend than it is problematic.
Goof wife:-
Society have expectations from a woman that she will be good wife after marriage and only stay in home,doing the work of household and became 'Homelly".
If she doesn't do like that people said that she is totally changed. Also in Victorian society we can find this type of situation of women. As a good wife she also take care for babies. If she doesn't do all this work properly,she is not good wife/woman.
Different gender:-
That is how beautiful if man and woman have equality in society. Still we are just talking about equality , not follow it. Of course man and woman are different biologically but both have same right to live in society.
3)Importance of truth in post truth era.
What is really true thing?
Really truth mean do not lie. Truth mean you should explain the thing as it is. If you lie you should not sleep well in night because you know that you are lying. It hurts you.
Not hesitate for telling truth:-
Sometimes people felt hesitation for telling truth to another so they start to lying. They tried to hide truth. But you should have courage for telling the things as it is. Accept the thing as it is . There is not any kind of need that you felt hesitation to accept reality.
Learn to accept reality and to say don't know:-
It is better for you that you tell truth about that thing which you dont know rather than lying . Take courage for speaking that you dont know. Sometimes what happened that you speak lie that you know that thing ,even you dont know,then that person came to know about that you don't know,so that situation becoming very ashamed for you. Then you will not be able to even doing eyecontact with him/her. So learn to tell that you don't know.
