Ezra had gone for war  and here Christine has extra marital affair with Adam Brant. When Ezra Manon come back from war Christine  is not able to face him . She can not do eye contact with her husband .  She has not any feeling for her husband. That shows that she has done something wrong. Her daughter is aware about her affair with Adam Brant. Talk about Orientalism

Image
Edward Said ' s interview was taken by Sut Jhally about Orientalism. This is very important work of Said about postcolonialism. I have found this 5 important points in the interview. 1 )Orientalism presents our thinking of east. The way to look towards east it is an attitude. Everything is not Orientalism because it was the parameter to look towards west. This is the perspective to look towards east people's life and their culture and their look also. Orientalism tries to get the idea of how do we come to know about that people who are different from other only by their skin color. Orient helps to define yourself. Orient define Europe and Europe define orient. 2)Orient is material foundation. It's not only an imagination. Orient is part of orient material civilization of European culture and civilization. Philosophical order and discourse is aslo Orientalism. Orientalism became an academic now.who is Orientalist now? The person who done philosophy ,who tea

Thinking activity about To the Lighthouse

Image
1)How can you explain that 'what' Virginia Woolf wanted to say (for example, the complexity of human relationship, the everyday battles that people are at in their relationship with near and dear ones, the struggle of a female artist against the values of middle/upper class society etc) can only be said in the way she has said? (Key: The 'How' of the narrative technique is to be discussed along with features of Stream of Consciousness technique which helps Woolf to put in effective manner what she experienced in abstractions.) Virginia Woolf use the modernism in her novel To The Lighthouse. She expressed her all the characters very well. She also use some autobiographical element here. She use stream of consciousness. She present here complexity of human relationship between Mrs. And Mr. Ramsay. Lily Briscoe a female artist struggle a lot . In her era people think that women cannot write or paint. She also face the struggle with Mrs . Ramsay and Charles Tansley .
