Introduction: In the english literature the time of its history we find many ages which was eave it’s own image. All these ages are
1) Elizabethan age
2) Jacobean age
3) The Restoration age
4) The Neo classical age
5) Pre -Romantic age
6) Romantic age
7) Victorian age
8) Modern age
In the history of English literature these ages faced so many down grandient and inflated.
Neo classical age:Neo classical literature was beginning to write in 1660 and its ending in 1798. In this age there were many writers as like Jan Racine, Jacques Louis,David Robert Adam, John Dryden , Alexander Pope, T.S..Eliot,etc.
The time period of this age is broken down into three parts1) Restoration age 2)Augustn age 3)Age of Johnson. In this term the word neo classical means neo means New and classical mean in the day of Roman and Greek classical. All writers of this age tried to imitate the style of the Roman and Greek . This era was also known as Elizabethan era which emphasized logic and reason. It was preceded by the Renaissance and followed by the Romantic era.
The age of neo – classical literature it was a time of comfortableness in England. People of England would meer at coffee house to chat about politics, among other topics and sometimes drink new warm beverage made of chocolate. In this age as known as beginning of British traditions of drinking afternoon tea. It was the starting point t if middle class because of that more people were literate. Seventeenth century and eighteenth century neo classicism was in a sense a resurgence of classical teste and sensibility but it was not identical to classicism. In part of reaction to the bold egocentric of Renaissance that saw mans as larger than life and boundless in potential.
In style neo classical continued the Renaissance value of balanced antithesis symmetry restraint and order. Additionally they sought to achieve a sense of refinement good taste and correctness . The brooding social unrest that culminates in the revolution in the American colonies and France toppled this artificially refinement and in the wake of these wars emerged portraits of the single common the vast natural landscape.
Development of Novel in this age:
In the age of neo classical age there are many writers of poetry ,novels ,drama etc. In this age there were many writers who wrote novel and give their contribution in novel.
Novels: First of all needs to know about what is novel and what is it’s contribution in literature? Here is definition of Novel is “ A novel is a long fictional narrations which described intimate human experience. The Novel in the modern era usually makes use od a literary prose style and the development of the prose novel at this time was encourage by innovation in printing and introduction of cheap paper in the 15th century.”
In english literature novel gives it’s big contribution. The letter an Italian word for short story to distinguish if from a novel has been used in english since the 18th century . In the rise of Novel suggested that the novel first came into begin I 18th century. In the time of this age ‘ The Mercure Gallant’ Robinson Crusoe’ ‘ Love letters between a Nobleman and his sister’ 'as like this example shows it’s contribution in this age. Neo classical artist did not strive to be original so much as to express old truths in nearly effective way neo classical writers aimed to articulate general truth rather than unique vision to communicate.

3) Alexander Pope: Alexander Pope was born in 21 may 1688 18th century poet. He is a great novel writer of neo classical age. He was born in a linen merchant of plough court , London. He went to two Catholic schools in London. Pope’s past orals was published in sixth parts of Tonton poetical Miscellanea. He followed by An Essay on Criticism published in may 1711. He friendship with Joseph Addison contribute in The Guardian and The Spectator. He began to the work of translated on Iliad . He wrote many of novels al like The Temple or The Fame,Three Hours After Marriage, PeriBathos ,The Dunciad , The Rope of the Lock,etc.
Conclusion: so all this major novel writer give their contribution to the age of neo classical age. Another writers also wrote most of famous novel in this age .
