Post review on Dr. Faustus
Question 1: The play directed by Matthew Sumatera for Globe theatre ends with this scene ?what does it signify?
The last scene of the paly Dr. Faustus ,we can see Lucifer with wide wings. This is signifies the victory of Lucifer. This scene shows always good wins on evil. Faustus tries to cross his limits and at last he got hell. So aa saying of our Hindu religion always stay in our limitations and don't tries to cross it. In this play Faustus 's own decision LEDs him in to hell. He tries to save his life but at last he can't do that.
Question 2:Is God present in the play?If yes ,where and how?If no ,why?
Yes ,Gid is present in the play Dr Faustus. God is present in Dr. Faustus 's mind and his imagination also. Faustus also want to become God . The image of Good Angle, Old Man and Faustus's all friend shows that there were the presence of God. At last Faustus repent for his all sins we can see that God would not pardon him and give him punishment. It is shows that if man tries to go beyond his limitations he always met with fall. So, we can say that God is present in the play Dr. Faustus.
Question3: What reading and interpretation can be given to this image with reference to central theme of the paly Dr Faustus?
The picture is mythological scene of Icarus and Daedalus. At the time to ignore his father's warning Icarus chose to fly near the sun and his wax was meting and he fall down. In the same way in Dr Faustus he tries to cross the limitations and goes beyond it he meets to hell at last. He becomes responsible for his down fall , not to obeyed all Good characters. He didn't follow the order of God and he met hell.
