Experience of learning Post colonial study by Balaji Ranganathan sir

On 14-15-16 september in Department of English MKBU we have guest lecture by Professor Balaji Ranganathan. He comes from Central University Gandhinagar.
He had  deal  with post colonial study in our department.

1st Day
On 14th he had taught us Black skin white mask by Frantz Fanon. He taught  the unit very interestingly and deeply.
He said that white man sealed in his whiteness and black man sealed in his blackness. Humanism is larger inclusive humanity. Higher state of awareness is humanity.
Which make us human is that dominated Peace, psychoanalysis ,start to organization and consciousness.

I learn so many new thing from him.  He explain all the topic of unit one very interestingly. He add his experience of learning in his teaching method. He proved very good and appropriate examples of the the unit.

He said that your colour is biological , impression is simple so you are observed by not your skin but by your culture.

He explain to deconstruct the colonialism. Sexual drive is not a skin colour but biological basis are only for colour. If you can not understand biological, you can not understand the cultural.

2nd Day
On 15th september he taught Orientalism by Edward Said and A Tempest by Aime Cesaire.

He explained the unit Orientalism very well and provide some good information about India 's condition before independence and after independence. He said that orient helps to define yourself. He said that this is specific era of study in which people like to learn not material but want to be academic.

He had expectation from the student that we are reading original texts but in reality we are not. Because this is semester system and we have not much time to read original. So he suggested that yous should read original first , not read summary. This will help you a lot for further study.

He explained  A Tempest very shortly and provide basic information about it. He suggested to read original A Tempest.
He identify difference between The Tempest and A Tempest very interestingly.

After that he gave us basic information about UGC Net and G set examination. He said that if you want to clear this examination you should have to do very hard work . Manage a large amount of data that make you able to clear Net. He provide us technique to how prepare for this examination. Here also he suggests to read original history book and tries to remember it. He suggested one very good thing is that  first you should have to  awareness about what you have mean what you know and what you haven't mean what you should have to learn . If you know this thing  then it will be easy for you to prepare for examination.
He aslo suggest that in paper you give the answer about  first whatever you know and then tries to clear that questions which you dont know ,this will be helpful for time saving . He told that  when you have to do preparation for examination, you leave that topic which one became very harder for you,for example mathematics  is harder one  so you leave that subject and focus on other subject and do hard work on it.

This information about how to prepare for examination ,is very helpful to me. I had learn lot of this type of thing from him.

3rd Day
On 16th september he taught us Imaginary Homeland by Salman Rushdie.

Here he clear first  the idea about  nation and state. Then he explained diaspora in detail and it's connection with Imaginary Homeland.

He explained the  unit  with chapter  and then he give idea of desire. He gave 3 version of desire and conflict.
1.Approach - Approach conflict(+ +)
2. Approch - Avoidance conflict(+ -)
3. Avoidance - Avoidance conflict(- -)

So he explain the unit and again suggest to read original book of Rushdie.

This 3 days was very helpful for me to understanding post colonial literature.
