Introduction
In the era of technology, the electronic media have transformed communication and our ability to share our idea and imagination. The availability of information on media is become common now. It increases our desire to know about current world. With the help of media we can get the information within few second of the incident. The fastness of internet is a new boon for the generation of 21st centuries people who can get the knowledge of anything, at anywhere. But every coin has two side. No one can say that what the thing or information is on social media is hundred percent right, there may have fakeness also.
People can not know the reality that how and when the thing change its color. It is presented as real one so everybody thinks that this is the truth . Here we are discussing the real Hindu myth of God and its representation in TV serials that what is the reality and how the director or script writer make change in it.
TV serials and films become guide for Indian culture:
TV serials and films become more popular among Indian people from ancient time to modern time. It presents our Indian culture and our myth of God . There are so many serials and movies on myth of God. Jai Santoshi Maa,Shirdi ke Sai Baba,Bal Hanuman, Bal Ganesha etc these all are the representation of Hindu myth.
From ancient time , the necessity of entertainment is very important for people. When the era of Television not come, people use to entertain by street play or drama, dance, in Gujarat Bhavai, Aakhyan etc got the pleasure by this. This all things is not only for pleasure, there is the meaning behind it. For example in Aakhyan players show the life of Ramdev Pir and by this people come to know about it. When the television come in India ,people started to Make film and serials on Hindu myth. Not only on Hindu myth but there is also so many serials and films on Muslim Myth Christian myth etc.
Myth of Hindu Gods:
In every religion there is the myth of God. Some intellectual or divine person make the list of incident which had happened with God and present it as a myth of that god. For example Ramayana , written by Valmiki. So here valmiki was a part of Ramayana who knows all the incident which was happened with lord Ram. He wrote all the incident and now it become the myth of lord Ram.
Television began in India in 1959 as a part of all India radio . From 15th August 1965 television transmitters Doordarshan signal in India.
After so many year when TV become popular among the people of India ,Ramanand Sagar Created the serial on lord Rama with the title of Ramayana in 1987-1988. The serial was presented on Indian channel Doordarshan.
That was the time when television become more popular among Indian people. The serial by Ramanand Saagr become popular all around Indian people. But all had not television at their house so people gathered around TV , who had TV in their house. That was the situation like curfew in society or area when the serial was on television. This affect a lot to people of India.
The main purpose of present this type of myth in TV serial was to make people aware about myth of Hindu Gods. That was the time when all people were not educated so the best way to present the idea of myth of God was this type of TV serial also. This was the world’s most viewed mythological serial. Before this there was the time of play ,folk etc but television leave great influence on people. Whenever people get free time they used to watch TV.
In this type of serial and TV program the director present the real era by the use of things and variety. For example, in 1887or1888 there was not a more development of technology so the shooting of the serial taken more time. The producer and characters have to lo lot of works for every scene. Now in 21st century this all things becomes more easy with the use of technology.
Then, after this Ramayana there was another Ramayana by Sagar Arts and it was aired on NDTV Imagine in 2008. So this serial have more extraordinary things which we can not be able to find in the Ramayana by Ramanand Sagar. There was another serial based on Ramayana was Siya ke Ram in 2015.Another Ramayana in 2008-2009. There was some serial based on Ram ‘s servant Lord Hanuman. Jai Hanuman come in 1997 to 2000 and Sankat mochan Mahabali Hanuman comes in 2015 to 2017. There were other serial and cartoon on Hanuman.
Change made by television :
There was lot of change done by the producer of the serial Ramayana. Some artificial things plays vital role for attract mass to watch the serial.
Clothes, ornaments, jewellery, look of characters all this change done by the producer’s imagination. Some scenes were included or removed by his also.
Myth of Mahabharat in television :
Mahabharat is an Indian epic . The series of 94 episode in Hindi ,produced by B.R.Chopra and directed by his son Ravi Chopra. It was based on Ved Vyas’s Mhabharat. It was on DD National channel.
When the serial began ,there was a song that consisted of lyrical content and two verses of Bhagwat Gita. The title song narrate the spirituality and its significant role in life. It was the first program broadcasted on BBC2 after 1991. After that it was broadcasted on Sony entertainment, from 2001-2003 and on star Utsav in 2006 -2008.
In 2013 the serial produced by Swastik production Pvt.Ltd , released the serial Mahabharat on Star Plus. The beginning song of this serial was also popular one. The serial Surya Putra Karna is also can be included as a part of Mahabharat in 2015.
Change made by television:
The new series of it was totally different by older one. There were so many changes in this. The use of technology make it more attractive for people. There were some added scene also which we can not find in real Mahabharat. Dress, jewellery, architectural structure , ornaments etc get changed by time.
The myth of Shri Krishna is a story of lord Krishna. The 1st serial of it ,was come in television in 1993 by Ramanand Sagar on Doordarshan. It is an adaptation of Bhagvat Gita.
The show was broadcasted on DD Nation in 1999. It was telecasted in other country also.
There was cartoon serial also on shri krishana. This was more popular in children.
Krishna was an Indian computed animated film come in 2006 directed by Aman Khan. Little Krishna was the movie released in 2009 in cartoon also. There was another serial ,Jai Shri Krishna in 2008-2009.
Now in 2018-2019 , the serial of Radha –Krishna on star Bharat produced by Siddharth Kumar Tewary and directed by Rahul Tewary . So these all serial plays vital role to showing real myth of Hindu God.
Change made by television:
In above all the serial, we can find some change. The time ,place, narration,clothes, etc is changed by time to time. Some scene and characters are included or removed from here also.
The drama on Lord Mahadev ‘s myth , Om Namah Shivay was released in 1997.
The serial of lord Shiva in television released as Devo ke Dev ..Mahadev. It is a drama series premiered on 2011 on Life OK channel. The show run until 2014. There is a movie also on lord Shiva’s myth. Jay Mahadev movie released also in India.
There are some cartoon movie like Shiv Parvati,The dancing God Shiva,Lord Shiva which inspire children to know about myth of lord shiva.
There are also some movies and serials based on Hindu God and goddesses which were came on Television like Jai Ganga Maiya in 1998, Vishnupuran in 2000, Mahima Shanidev ki in 2008-2009,Buddha – Rajaon Ke Raja in 2013, Dharmakshetra in 2014-2015,Jai Santoshi Maa in 2015 to 2017,Mahakali in 2017, Karmaphal Daata Shani in 2016 to 2018.
Conclusion:
Thus we can say that television play vital role for introduce the myth of Hindu religion to the world. It produce the in culture and believed things of religion. Now on internet this all serials and movies are available which is based on myth and religion. So people have not wait for proper time to watch it and also there is not any requirement of television. You can watch it from anywhere ,anytime in mobile phone. So this is the real myth of Hindu God and its representation in television.
